Basic PART Walkthrough
Import CAD
When a file is imported into the software, it may be necessary to set the material and thickness of the part. For a single part, the material and thickness are selected in the row of open files at the bottom of the screen. To set the material, click the material in the row of open files then from the available list select the desired material. Next, click the thickness in the row of open files and using the keypad input the desired value and press the Enter key.
Tooling the Part
Once the material and thickness are set, the part can be tooled up. The workflow icon on the left of the splash screen can be used to progress this process. To tool the part, select the Workflow icon and navigate to the Laser Tech option to add laser tooling to the part. Alternatively, use the shortcut key L to jump straight to the Cut screen and tooling is automatically calculated.
Quick-Nest
After the part has been tooled, the part can be nested on a sheet using the Quick-nest option in the workflow. Alternatively, use the shortcut key N to jump straight to the Nest screen and sequencing is automatically calculated. To nest a single part on a sheet, hold the shift key whilst clicking on the Quick-nest option. To alter the sheet and nesting settings, hold the Ctrl key and again click the Quick-nest option.
NC Code Generation
Now the part is nested and sequencing is complete, the NC program and report can be generated by using the Post-Process option in the workflow. Alternatively, use the shortcut key C to automatically generate the files, or use the NC-code icon on the left of the Nest screen. Any changes made after the code has been generated will allow the code to be re-generated.
